The first Vizier of Rushymia to hold effective power in almost twenty one years was appointed earlier today.

Rushymia is an Austenasian Crown Dependency situated just under a mile from Wrythe.

Rushymia was originally founded in 1995 as a micronation based in a local school playground before falling inactive in 2000. The legal right to the Rushymian crown was obtained by the Austenasian Throne in 2010, and retained in a titular capacity before the kingdom was re-established in August 2018 on its current site.

The Vizier of Rushymia serves as the deputy and viceroy of the King.

Although the office was bestowed by the Emperors as a ceremonial title prior to Rushymia’s re-founding, the last person to hold the position in an effective capacity was the former King Billy of Rushymia, who served as Vizier to his successor King Alex during the 1999-2000 academic year.

The new Vizier of Rushymia is one Fabian Sabong, who lives nearby to the new site of Rushymia. He will act as viceroy for Jonathan I and help to administer Rushymia in person.

Midget titles abolished

In an Imperial Decree passed on Thursday 16th, His Imperial Majesty the Emperor has decreed the abolition of all Austenasian titles derived from the Midget Nation-in-Exile.

The Midget Nation-in-Exile was an entity which existed between 2009 and 2011. It was the government-in-exile of the Midget Empire, a playground-based micronation that functioned between 2002 and 2007, and was comprised of several former members of said micronation.

The Midget Empire and Nation-in-Exile were both run by a “Midget Master,” a title which has been held by the Austenasian Monarch since 2010. The Nation-in-Exile was annexed by Austenasia in April 2011, with its remaining members becoming a unit in the Austenasian Army.

The word “Midget” was chosen by the founders of the Midget Empire for no real reason; it is important to note that said founders were between eight and nine years old at the time.

The micronation had no relation to dwarfism or little people, for whom the word “midget” is a pejorative term now regarded as politically incorrect.

It is in an attempt to avoid offence and confusion that Emperor Jonathan I has therefore decreed that the instances of “Midget” in Austenasian titulature which remain from the annexation of the Nation-in-Exile in 2011 are to be abolished or revised.

Most notably, the office of Midget Master is to be dissolved and subsumed into the throne of Rushymia, an entity which represents the heritage of an earlier micronation which was based at the same school as the Midgets.

Furthermore, Centuria II Midgetae – the military unit comprised of former members of the Midgets – will be renamed to Centuria II Ruscimiae.

The changes to titulature mandated by the Emperor will come into force on 1 January 2020.

Rushymia re-founded as Crown Dependency

The Kingdom of Rushymia was re-established as a territorial entity yesterday as 35 acres of land were annexed to Austenasia as the Empire’s newest Crown Dependency.

Rushymia originally existed as a playground-based micronation between 1995 and 2000. In October 2010, the right to the Rushymian crown was gained by the Austenasian Throne, and an Act of Parliament was passed last year authorising the re-creation of Rushymia as an Austenasian Crown Dependency.

The new site of Rushymia, claimed by Imperial Edict, was provisionally selected in April earlier this year. Notices announcing the government’s intention to claim the land were placed around the site, asking any objections to be voiced, but as no reply was forthcoming, it is assumed that the land is unwanted.

The new site of Rushymia is comprised of a large area of grassland, bordered by wooded areas to its south and south-west. Prior to its annexation, the identity of its owners was unable to be verified.

The land borders Mitcham Common, although not a part of the Common itself, and is often used by dog walkers, joggers, and amateur quadbike drivers.

Unlike other Crown Dependencies, which are administered by a Governing Commissioner appointed by the Monarch, Rushymia is to be governed directly by Emperor Jonathan I in his capacity as King of Rushymia.

In a reference to an extremely controversial incinerator being built relatively nearby, notices placed yesterday on the site announcing the annexation also stated that the building of incinerators (as well as the felling of trees used by nesting birds, in reference to another recent environmental controversy) is forbidden within the new Kingdom.

Having been claimed on 29 August, a feast day of St John the Baptist, Jonathan I has declared St John to be patron saint of Rushymia.

The new Crown Dependency is now Austenasia’s second largest land claim, with only Corinium Terentium covering a larger area.

Notices have been placed around a large area of derelict land under a mile from the Imperial Residence announcing that the land is being considered for annexation by the Empire of Austenasia.

The notices – addressed to the British government and to the owners of the land – give a period of three months for an objection to be made before the Austenasian government will consider the land unwanted and thus eligible to be claimed.

Should no valid objections be raised, the land will be used for the re-founding of the Kingdom of Rushymia, as authorised by Parliament in October last year.

Despite the land measuring roughly 35 acres, its legal status is somewhat murky. Although most likely owned by the company which operates a landfill site to the east of the land, the land is unused for any industrial purposes and unmanaged by any parks or environmental services, and the precise identity of its owners could not be verified.

The land is often frequented by dog walkers, joggers, and amateur quadbike and moped drivers, who are easily able to access the ostensibly private land through large gaps in long-neglected fences.
